Hair Tips and Tricks
There are many things you can do on your own to protect the longevity of your wig once you receive it. Here are some tips and tricks for you to refer back to in order to help you protect your investment!
DO'S AND DON'TS
-Go from the bottom up when detangling. Starting at the base will increase balding!
-Don't mess around in the hair when it's wet! This is one of THE fastest ways to get you knotted up. Wash it, dry it, style it and be done.
-NEVER sleep in a wet wig.
-Always detangle before you wash.
-DON'T use anything with an alcohol base! (Check out recommended products for help with what to use)
-DON'T use anything heavy, oily, or greasy. (We're all so tempted because of the smell factor!) But this will weigh your hair down and ruin it. Oil is hard to remove from anything; hair included.
-If you're gluing the wig down, use a silk scarf for your edges and put a bonnet on when you sleep.ย This is going to protect your lace from lifting and limit your wig from drying out. (even when you take a nap!)
-Invest in a good serum or heat protectant. Serums are weightless and do wonders for protecting your wig from frizziness and heat.
-Try using less heat! (Yes I know, you bought a wig so you could manipulate it instead of your own!) But try heatless styles. Use flexirods at night, instead of a curling iron in the morning. You'll notice a difference in texture from less heat, and flexirods always create neat curl patterns.

THE TRUTH ABOUT SHEDDING
You will always have some shedding when you have a hand-knotted wig. It's important to know the difference between "normal shedding" and "excessive shedding." Believe it or not, this is all affected by the care you chose to take. If you care for your wig from the very beginning, you're more likely to not end up in a tangled, matted, unmanageable mess. (We all know what that's like!) The lifespan of your wig is way beyond it's first wash. Do what you can to prevent the worst case scenario.
